Spring has sprung in the Scottish Borders!
SCOTTISH BORDERS FOOD AND DRINK NETWORK
GOES FROM STRENGTH TO STRENGTH WITH LAUNCH OF NEW WEBSITE AND DIRECTORY

We have just launched a bright and brand new website which we are sure you'll enjoy and will find much easier to navigate, with lots of fresh editorial and features. Also, our brilliant 2018/19 Food and Drink Directory is currently being distributed far and wide with our industry partners across the Borders.

A launch event was held at Carfraemill Hotel, attended by leading lights of the Borders food and drink world, including representatives from the Borders Distillery, Jarvis Pickle Pies and Windlestraw, as well as Scottish Borders Councillor for Business and Economic Development, Mark Rowley.

The Scottish Borders Food and Drink Network now has over 85 members, including local food and drink producers and those who serve it in their hotels, restaurants and pubs.

The latest annual food and drink directory has a print run of 15,000 copies, helping to signpost the very best of local food and drink to Borders residents and tourists alike.

The new website allows searches of the region by map, highlighting food trails, places to visit, listings of local producers and featuring interesting new recipes to try at home - so there is always something new to read. Network members can update their own profiles and add links to their digital media.  If you would like to join the Network as a Member, you will also be able to do this online through the website.  You will automatically be issued with an invoice for your membership fee, which you can pay through PayPal - annual renewals will be issued in this way too. As from 1st May 2018, there will be one flat rate of membership at £60.00 per annum.  Membership runs for a full 12 months from the time of joining or renewal.  We will soon be posting a reminder of all the great Network membership benefits. In the coming weeks, a video will be added to the site, demonstrating how you can join, update your profile, add images etc - so please check back and always feel free to contact us with any queries! info@bordersfoodnetwork.co.uk

The Borders is the breadbasket of Scotland,” said Chair of the Network John Henderson, owner of Born in the Borders. “So it’s only right that we now have a cutting edge website to promote our wares. The fact that the website will drive business for our members was always a key goal in its development, and we believe we’ve created a world-class website for what is rapidly becoming a world-class food and drink destination.”

The new website keeps the same address http://www.bordersfoodnetwork.co.uk, but offers so much more information and interest and also includes a link to a digital version of the new food and drink directory.

We encourage you to take a virtual tour of this great food and drink producing region of Scotland.

A LETTER FROM RACHAEL HAMILTON
MSP for Ettrick, Roxburgh & Berwickshire

As you may be aware, the consultation for the South of Scotland Economic Partnership (SoSEP) has begun. I think it is important that individuals and organisations from the Borders engage with this consultation.  I believe that tourism should be considered by SoSEP to be a key sector, however, at the moment, this is not the case. I am sure there are a lot of other ideas, including tourism, that your members will be passionate about, and I would therefore urge you to engage with the consultation.
The easiest way to do this is to take part in the survey that can be found by clicking HERE

The consultation will close on the 7th June 2018.

I would be grateful if you could pass this onto your members and urge them to take part.

Yours sincerely,

Rachael Hamilton MSP
Ettrick, Roxburgh & Berwickshire

NEWS FROM WHITMUIR

Dear Farm Supporters
Hope you are enjoying this Spring weather - NOT!  Now sounding like I am 11 on my next birthday, but it does wear you down a bit.  The boys are exhausted working in cold and mud and the washing machine has had enough.   It's meant to be a scorcher at the weekend, so keep the faith, spring will spring.

Whitmuir on Film - finally managed to get the technology to work - so enjoy a few wee films from the farm here.
Ignore the first two - start with the third one - if I was clever enough I could change the running order but it might take another week before I work out how to do that!
The third one is the most recent.  Aiming to upload the Field of Enquiry film to this in the next week also.

Whitmuir Deliveries - order online here at whitmuir.scot.  The boys have been working out how to put on offers and we will be working on a "this week's offers" page this week.

Staff - we are still looking for chef/ cook staff - please visit the jobs page here and circulate this advert to any one you think might be interested.

Hope to see you soon.
Best wishes
Heather and the crew at Whitmuir
